New Listing – Hartley Fijian 43 ‘CLARSACH OIR’

Ferro Cement Fijian 43

Hartley is a name long associated with the design and construction of Ferro Cement boats. Recognised as an authority on the matter. The company have several popular designs to their credit with several volumes published on the subject of Ferro boat construction. The Fijian 43 has proved to be a very popular design. Examples to be found in all corners of the world, many the veterans of multiple ocean crossings.

CLARSACH OIR was built by Paul Peter McMahon Burns, launched in 1973 as ‘GOLDEN HARP’. Over his 17 year ownership, he cruised the boat extensively, completing the 1981 Trans Atlantic Race. The name was changed by the current owner to the Gaelic for Golden Harp, CLARSACH OIR. With the current owners since 2004. Benefitting from some refitting below deck at the time of her purchase. Unlike many other examples of the class, she is finished in a style with minimal superstructure above deck level leaving a large expanse of open deck forward and aft. A GRP moulded doghouse providing shelter to the cockpit. Below decks her finish is similar to that of many home finished boats, a practical layout with good solid joinery work providing comfortable living space. In need of some re-finishing and upgrading, she is an excellent proposition for somebody looking to live aboard or enjoy blue water cruising on a budget.
