Mark Cameron Yachts

1987 Barbican 35 ‘NA MARA’ – SOLD

Barbican 35

Mark Cameron Yachts are delighted to announce the successful sale of the 1987 (1991 launched) Barbican 35 ‘NA MARA’.

In production for only 12 months before the moulds were lost in a fire the Barbican 35 is a rare find, only seven being produced before the disaster. Designed by Holman and Pye the Barbican 35 is a development of the earlier Super Sovereign Ketch. With a re-worked interior, taller rig and full GRP construction reviews of the time were very complimentary. With her heavy displacement and long keel the boat offers great potential as a long-distance cruising yacht.

NA MARA is the last known example of the Barbican 35 to be launched. Purchased by her original owners in kit form she was fitted out over a 3 year period, specifically to fulfil their bluewater aspirations. During her first ownership she cruised extensively venturing as far south as the Azores in the Atlantic and as far north as Norway proving herself to be a reliable cruiser, even during a Hurricane force storm in the mid-Atlantic.

Wintering afloat on her mooring in Crinan, Argyll the Barbican 35 NA MARA will remain in Crinan until the spring when her new owners will move her to her new home mooring near Dunoon on the Clyde.
