1962 McGruer Yawl – ELONA – SOLD

McGruer Yawl

Mark Cameron Yachts are delighted to announce the successful sale of the 1962 McGruer Yawl ‘ELONA’.

The 40’ McGruer Yawl ELONA was designed for a serial owner of McGruer-designed and built yachts. Unlike other designs of the time she was; in the words of James McGruer, designed to be a ‘healthy, easily-handled, comfortable cruising yacht of handsome appearance’. With no consideration given to the measurement rules of the day the design has a natural flow resulting in longer overhangs, more balanced ends and a drier bow when compared to other designs which tended to feature pinched ends to maximise ratings. On deck she features the stylised ‘McGruer doghouse’ giving her that instantly recognisable McGruer silhouette.

With her current owners since 2007 ELONA has benefitted from significant ongoing investment throughout this ownership. Freshly launched for the 2024 season ELONA was handed over to a delivery crew at James Watt Dock Marina for the trip south to her new home waters of the Solent.
