A nicely presented example of the popular Vancouver 34 Pilot house. Benfitting from extensive upgrading throughout the current ownership. A boat ideally suited for short-handed cruising in the variable British climate.
In the current ownership since 2015 CORRIE BAY benefits from a professional mini-refit undertaken during 2015/16. Having successfully cruised the coast line of Britain, the majority of the time with just a couple aboard; she has proven to be a very capable cruising yacht.
The pilothouse configuration is ideally suited to short-handed offshore passages with the on-watch crew not required to be on deck. While the current owners upgrades have ensured the boat is as reliable and easy as possible to sail with a small crew. Offering comfortable accommodation for four over two cabins with an additional occasional berth in the pilothouse. Her inventory highlights include:

A well maintained and set-up example of the Vancouver 34 Pilot CORRIE BAY is coming to the end of a round Britain cruise. She will be cruising the sea of the Hebrides in summer 2020 and available for viewing by prior appointment.
As her name suggests, the Vancouver 34 Pilot shares all the cruising attributes of the Vancouver 34 but with a pilothouse configuration. There is an interior piloting position so watches can be kept without sitting outside in the elements. From the saloon, the crew can enjoy 360-degree vision in the seated position and the yacht from vast amounts of additional accommodation space as a result. There is a spacious central galley, two separate double cabins, space to fit an optional generator, water maker, fridge and freezer plus all the navigational instruments that may be required. As with all Vancouvers the oilskin locker is adjacent to the companionway and there is a full size chart table.
All sail handling controls are led aft to the cockpit and the self-tacking staysail maker sailing her that much easier. The cockpit has three large lockers giving plenty of space for the storage of the dinghy, fenders, warps and spare sails.
We bought Corrie bay in 2015 and completed an immediate and extensive refurbishment including new bow thruster, canvas, electrical check and solar panel installation, original Yanmar engine refurbishment and general cosmetic improvements externally as part of a full deep clean.
Since then we have continued to upgrade her to make sure everything works well is safe and effective this has included a new engine and all ancillaries in 2016 new sails, foresail furling and reconfigured battery system in 2019.
We are a typical sailing couple with one of us loving it and the other a reluctant crew, The Vancouver 34 pilot has given us everything we could ask for. She is safe solid and Corrie bay is completely set up for short-handed sailing and mooring. All controls are accessible form the cockpit with all reefing for all white sails achievable from the cockpit. The mainsail has two single line reefs and the main halyard and sheet all running to a cleverly positioned central winch.
Staysail roller reefing is something we added in 2019 (along with new furling gear for the yankee) which means all sails can be furled or reduced from the safety of the cockpit. The mainsail runs on roller bearings which also means its practical to drop the whole sail fall safely into the stack pack which was also replaced in 2017
The boat is easy to handle in seas or in the marina much aided by the new engine and propeller (2016) and a new bow thruster fitted in 2015. The new alternator also allows us to rapidly charge our batteries and sits well alongside the solar panel if we go off grid for a while.
Two good cabins with double berths and the warm air heating along with an onboard hot shower mean we have a comfortable home for our longer trips. In poor weather we can sail effectively on auto from the pilot house with great all-round visibility. We have journeyed across the channel and had extended cruises to the west country from our Hamble base spending some 3 months away each year. Last year we ventured north and enjoyed a season cruising in Scotland. The boat has wintered in Scotland and we look forward to exploring Scotland further this year before wintering the boat in the Clyde area next year.
All in all the perfect boat but new grandchildren responsibilities have changed our plans and she is now looking for a new loving home.
