Mark, Fiona and Derek would like to wish all our clients and friends all the very best for 2022.
As we put our best foot forward and jump into 2022; with all the fun and challenges it will bring, we wanted to pause for a short reflection on another incredibly successful year for Mark Cameron Yachts. When we reflected on 2020 we looked forward to 2021 with nervous optimism. Expecting the year to be another busy, rewarding 12 months with new challenges because of BREXIT and the economy recovering from the lockdowns of 2020. We never expected to be finishing the year having achieved a company record of 60 sales in the year. Demand within the UK market remained feverish throughout the year with yachts regularly going under offer within a matter of hours of being listed (our record being an offer accepted within 27 minutes of the boat being listed for sale!) and often achieving selling prices significantly in excess of the asking prices.
Mark Cameron Yachts looks forward to 2022 with noticeable uplift in the quality of listings with yachts and motor yachts lying across the UK we have firmly established ourselves as a premium UK brokerage house. With a handful of lovely boats under offer as we start the year it looks like 2022 is going to be every bit as busy and we are looking forward to all the challenges this will bring.
With so many notable sales in the last 12 months we taken a few moments for a quick review of our highlights:
Sold in the midst of a lockdown with the whole process completed virtually and the boat delivered to Largs for her new owners to step aboard in the late spring of 2021.
Lying in Inverness CORRIE BAY was purchased by first-time boat owners who enjoyed a wonderful first season and has placed CORRIE BAY for sale with us again as they look to move up to a larger yacht suitable for their growing family. Find details of CORRIE BAY on our site.
A historically significant sale, by appointment of the Scottish Government we were delighted to find a buyer for this magnificent Motoryacht after only two months of marketing. The yacht attracted interest from across the globe and were delighted to see her staying in Scotland for her forthcoming restoration.
After some issues were discovered at the survey we worked with the vendor to manage the required repairs with various sub-contractors completing a number of repairs during a period of lockdown. Her new owners arranged collection and delivery of the yacht to her new homeport in Northern Ireland.
A unique yacht with an incredible pedigree we enjoyed a huge amount of interest in this well known Scottish yacht and were delighted to complete the sale just over a month after listing her for sale with her new owner completing the purchase after a virtual viewing during a period of lockdown.
An indication of the feverish demand in the UK market for well-presented cruising yachts this one owner example found a new owner after just over a month of being listed for sale.
After completing several virtual viewings during the winter lockdown we were delighted to accept an offer and complete the sale with the first party to view her in person after lockdown restrictions were lifted.
With an offer accepted within hours of the boat being listed for sale early in 2021 we were delighted to complete the sale of this lovely one-owner yacht as soon as restrictions permitted the sellers to re-commission the yacht ready for collection by her new owners for her delivery to Northern Ireland.
July 2021
July saw a triplet of lovely boats finding new owners inside a month of being listed for sale, attracting interests from multiple parties with sellers reaping the benefits of a vibrant UK market and the boats achieving selling prices in excess of the asking prices.
One of the last ‘Woodie’ Grand Banks 32 built we were delighted to see this magnificent classic motoryacht selling to a local young family who went on to enjoy the last of the summer getting to know their new Grand Banks.
A fantastically well equipped, blue water ready ketch ‘CORSAIR’ had completed tens of thousands of miles with her previous owners and is now getting ready to head off under new owners to explore the waters of Scandinavia.
September 2021
September was the busiest month Mark Cameron Yachts has enjoyed since the company started trading in 2018. Over the month 11 sales were completed many seeing yachts find new owners within a month of first being listed for sale. However two yachts stick in our memory:
A fantastically well maintained, fully loaded, one owner yacht this modern cruiser from Maxi Yachts boasted a huge inventory. Lying in Largs Marina we were delighted to find a local buyer and we are looking forward to seeing her at the 2022 Round Mull Race where she should be capable of lifting some silverware.
A truly unique yacht FLY was built to the exacting requirements of her first owner with a no-expenses-spared attitude her price tag when launched was in excess of £2 million. In need of extensive re-fitting after a lightning strike we worked with interested parties from across the globe before completing the sale to a USA based buyer. With re-fitting works underway we look forward to seeing this magnificent yacht under sail in 2022.
KERLO is believed to be the result of a design competition run by the Royal Swedish Yacht club in the late 1930’s. The competition designed to stimulate innovation in the design and build of cruising yachts from the countries then younger naval architects. The winning design she was built and then given away as the prize in the clubs 1939 annual raffle. The lucky winner was a Scottish sailor based in Edinburgh and the boat arrived in the UK shortly before the start of WWII. Her new custodians are a young couple who are spending this winter completing a mini-refit ready for their first season, you can follow their adventures on Instagram, just search for KERLO.
Another fantastically well-equipped bluewater ready cruising yacht that found new owners inside a month of being listed for sale. A late season delivery saw her making a wild passage south to her new homeport in Chichester. Her new owners are preparing to depart on their own global adventure in late 2022.
With the demand for well-presented cruising yachts continuing to outstrip demand even we were surprised at the speed this sale was completed. Listed on December 15th her new owners took ownership just in time for Christmas!
We are looking forward to 2022 and another successful year. If you would like to discuss the sale of your boat please don’t hesitate to contact us.
