Oban ‘Round the Island Race’

Friday 29th of June see the start of Oban Sailing Clubs own ‘Round The Island Race’ with fleet for the Owen Sails & Ardfern Yacht Centre Round Mull Race mustering for the 12:30 start.

A passage race event run over 3 days the fleet circumnavigates the island of Mull; in three separate legs with overnight stops in Tobermory and Bunessan. The waters around Mull are widely regarded as some of the most scenic in the UK. With the added complication of tides and stretches of the coast open to the Atlantic the event can provide some exhilarating racing for crews.

Open to all the fleet sees a full spread of boats and crews competing. From those that normally compete in IRC fleets at major regattas to family crews and those who like the challenge of the two handed class.

Kicking off with the famous reception and buffet in the sailing club on Thursday evening the events social program finishes with a buffet and Ceilidh in the Bunessan hall on Saturday evening.

We will be in attendance at the event and look forward to an enjoyable weekend on the water.
