As we predicted in our 2024 review, 2025 was a year full of challenges. We had foreseen a difficult year but hadn’t quite anticipated the level of uncertainty in the economy both nationally and internationally. Between the ever-changing transatlantic tariffs and the ‘will she, won’t she’ taxation fears in the UK, it’s not surprising that it was a tricky market for yacht sales of all sizes. We continued to focus on providing both buyers and sellers with a comprehensive brokerage service for sail and motor yachts. Sellers have had to adjust their price expectations to reflect the new market reality, with buyers proving to be more fickle than ever before.
With a large volume of yachts on the market, buyers now have the luxury of choice. Over the past 12 months, we have seen a growing number of buyers rejecting yachts after survey, with no interest in renegotiating the selling price or allowing the seller to remedy the defects. This is a trend we expect to continue as buyers take advantage of an oversupplied market. Despite the challenging climate, Mark Cameron Yachts finished the year on a positive note, achieving just over one boat sale per week throughout 2025, with a significant increase in the average sale value compared to our 2024 season.
As we step into 2026, we continue to invest heavily in our marketing and industry partnerships to ensure our clients receive the best possible representation across a range of industry-leading sales platforms. We continue to support clients with comprehensive advice before marketing, as resolving those ‘niggles’ and presenting the yacht in the best possible condition is now more important than ever. With a handful of boats under offer as 2026 begins, we are ready to start the year positively and look forward to the brighter days of spring and the start of the sailing season.
