French boat builder Wauquiez has in recent years produced a series of Pilot Saloon yachts, all designed by Berret Racoupeau. The Pilot Saloon range has proven incredibly popular with cruisers, the sleek hull providing performance capable of eating up the ocean miles while the elevated deck saloon provides a bright and spacious interior with panoramic views and huge amounts of storage space. At the smaller end of the range, the Wauquiez 40 Pilot Saloon has gained a loyal following among short-handed cruisers with the rig ideally suited to short-handed sailing. A ‘solent’ type cutter rig providing a larger genoa with a self-tacking jib mounted on an inner forestay. Below decks the PS40 offers two double cabins, both with en-suite heads. A large linear galley with fridge and separate freezer and the elevated deck saloon which converts to an occasional double berth.
Lying in Rhu Marina the Wauquiez Pilot Saloon 40 QWYVER was handed over to her new owners in commission and ready to head off to her new home berth in Dunstaffnage Marina, near Oban.
