Description

One owner. Well appointed, open plan saloon, twin aft cabin version of the award-winning Stefan Qviberg designed Arcona. Equipped for quick coastal cruising in comfort by a discerning owner.
Commissioned to be the last in a lifetime of yachts for an owner fond of competitive regatta sailing. REQUIEM was specified and built to the vendor's exacting requirements. Centred around the requirement to be a comfortable short-handed cruiser while capable of performing on passages races and the odd regatta. Inventory highlights include:
Full set of Carbon/Taffeta laminate sails custom built by Owen Sails.

High aspect blade jib with inner sheet track.
Aramid fibre cascading backstay system.
Andersen Electric Primary, mainsheet and halyard winches.
Full Raymarine instrument suite, including plotter.
Digital Yacht onboard PC and AIS system.
Traditional saloon layout.
Alcantara upholstery.

Regrettably for sale due to advancing years REQUIEM is a unique opportunity to acquire a beautifully appointed, professionally maintained ‘turn key’ example. Rarely available second hand in the UK with such a refined inventory.

Owners Comment:
A yacht owner for more than 50 years and now over 80. I can honestly say REQUIEM has brought me more enjoyment than any other yacht I have owned. We took ownership of the boat in Sweden, her first real test was a North Sea crossing testing conditions. On that first passage I realised what a thoroughbred the Arcona 430 is.

After 9 years of cruising and some light racing I have total confidence in the boats ability. With the lines all lead aft and a full complement of electric winches; cruising the boat with a crew of 2 is easy and rewarding. Reefs are easily put in the main from the cockpit. She easily makes over 8kts to windward when cruising. We have found the blade jib to be an excellent sail. She is perfectly balanced and a pleasure to sail even in foul weather. The most rewarding boat I have ever owned.

Yachting Press Remarks:

‘European Yacht of the Year 2009 – WINNER

This category proved to be a very tough one for the judges, but in the end, the Arcona came out on top. In particular, the panel was impressed with the details and thoroughness of design, from her broad concept to the consistently high standard of build throughout.
The best aspects of her sister ship the 460, have been passed down to ensure a practical working and racing cockpit, excellent response, good balance and smooth tracking – with an end result of riveting sailing.’
Yachting World. European Yacht of the Year 2009.

‘Verdict

She’s billed as the ideal cruiser-racer, combining race-winning speed and heart winning comfort – and I can’t disagree. For two-handers or dyed-in-the-wool cruisers she’s too powerful, but for two adventurous couples, a group of friends, or a fast cruising family, you won’t find anything this solid, satisfying, comfortable, thoughtfully designed and well-finished for the money.
She’s stiff enough to forgive you if you’re a little late reefing down, and the rudder’s deep enough to keep you in control. There’s a lot of canvas for a with her waterline length, but you’re in charge – it's there if you want it. She’s light for her length so she’ll perform through the wind range.’

BUILDER’S COMMENTS:
When it was time to design the Arcona 430, there were a long list of ideas and thoughts from the Arcona Yachts team on how build a yacht without compromises and standard solutions; this list arose as a direct result from many years of experience in sailing, yacht design and boat building. The outcome was a yacht awarded European Yacht of the Year 2009 – Arcona 430.

She is a full sized 43 feet yacht with sailing capabilities above normal. She’s just as hot on the race courses as she is safe and easy to handle for the family during cruising. The Arcona 430 has the same technically advanced construction, built to a superb quality and with modern technology, like all Arcona yachts are. Arcona 430 is full of practical details and smart solutions – she is an extraordinary yacht.

MANUFACTURER HISTORY:
Arcona Yachts in Sweden have been building boats for more than 40 years, and over that time have developed a vision that has evolved through their love of sailing and the desire to produce the best sailing experience. Consequently, each new model builds upon the best of what has gone before and, while reflecting the latest design development, remains true to the spirit of Arcona.
